The relay actually consists of four primary parts, which are a coil that is actually denoted by terminals eighty-five and eighty six. 

There is a common terminal within the relay and terminal thirty denotes this.

There is also a terminal that is usually closed and this is known as terminal eighty-seven.

There is also a terminal eighty-seven which is usually open.

The controlling voltage can be either positive or negative and this will have an impact on terminal eighty-six and eighty-five and it will either be grounded or it will be connected to twelve volts.
